Temps can get toasty in Sri Lanka. Luckily, we’ve got an ice bath for instant chill. Keen to soothe your sore spots with a trip to the deep freezer? You’re entitled to one free stint in the tub per stay, supervised by our trainers. And if your muscles are still in need of a kneading, you can also enjoy a 60-minute sports massage on us. Ideal if your bod’s taken a beating from bus rides or burpees.

 
 
 

Active rest.

Rest days are the best days for exploring Sri Lanka’s sunny south coast. Swim with turtles at our nearest beach, tour picturesque paddy fields on two wheels, or learn to surf at some of the island’s best breaks. Then kick back by the pool after a busy day in paradise. Core room

Get rested the right way with one of our cosy Core rooms. Situated in the gym building, these well-appointed spaces feature all the fundamentals for a fantastic stay: comfortable double beds, modern en-suite bathrooms and bright, clean interiors.

 

Boost room

Don’t go home, go bigger: our larger Boost rooms offer even more space for you to stretch out. They also include cosy double or twin beds, modern en-suite bathrooms and spacious private balconies which overlook the pool area and vibrant paddy fields beyond.

  • Makahiya Fitness is situated 10 minutes inland of Unawatuna, on the sunny south coast of Sri Lanka. Getting from the airport to Makahiya couldn’t be easier: the island’s main expressway runs all the way to nearby Galle. Airport transfers are included in our fitness packages – the journey takes an easy 2hrs 15mins by car.

  • Whether you book a Kickstart Package or choose to Build Your Own, you can select any start date to suit your travel plans. Every package includes unlimited access to our gym and all of our daily fitness classes, so you can build a flexible schedule whenever you arrive.

  • Absolutely! While we regularly welcome groups at Makahiya, most of our guests are travelling solo. All of our rooms can be booked for single or double occupancy, with packages priced accordingly. We always go big on group vibes – so whether you stay for a weekend or a fortnight, you’ll leave Makahiya with mates for life.

  • Fitness has no age limit and neither does Makahiya. From young guns to seasoned buffs, we welcome guests of every generation. Our community is built around big energy and big effort, regardless of your birthday rep count.

  • Our retreat is open all year round. The traditional season for the south coast runs from December to March, when the sun is hot, the surf is good and there’s very little rain. The off-season usually serves up sunshine between scattered showers. We train whatever the weather.

  • Corporate crew, gym squad or team mates: we’re very happy to host big groups at Makahiya. The retreat can comfortably sleep 18, with the option to transform our Super Suite into a four-bed dorm for the ultimate bonding experience. Get in touch for group packages.
